Week 17, August 25, 2025 Project GREEN Gardens (PGG)

Hi All,

Please check your calendars for cancelling Monday, September 1st’s work session. It’s our country’s day to celebrate the American worker, like Project GREEN volunteers! So, fire up the grill and have a wonderful Monday holiday with family and friends.

Would any of you be able to meet Tuesday, September 2 from 9 – 11 a.m.? Cindy and I will have info to share regarding the new stakes in place for the REAP Grant. Also an FYI from the REAP Contractor asking volunteers to leave any stakes where they are. Replacing stakes will add time to the completion of Project GREEN’s project.

We have now completed 17 weeks together at the PGG. We have two months of Mondays left for 2025.

There were 24 volunteers in attendance Monday, August 25. They were: Diane Allen (3 1/2 hours), Sue Mullins (3 hours), Jim Peters, Susan Ahrens, Michele Sorrell (master gardener hours), Linda Schreiber (master gardener hours), Barb Schintler, Evelyn Frey, Mary Laughlin, Pat Yeggy (1 hour), Monica Hoherz, (3 hours), Hetty Hall (2 1/2 hour), Cindy Parsons, Lisa Haverkamp. Volunteers who spent extra time since last week: Cindy and Diane (3 1/2 hours) each making next year’s plant order for PGG, Monica (1 hour watering), Susan Ahrens (1 hour watering), Lisa Haverkamp (3 hours). We had 10 items on our “To-Do” list and all were checked at the end of our Monday morning session. By the way, it was a gorgeous day of cool temps, air quality, pleasant humidity. Our only concern is needed rain.

Here are the numbers after 17 weeks together. Weeks 1 – 16 + Week 17

= 713 hours + 39 hours = 752 hours for our Project GREEN 2025 volunteers!

Many thanks to each of you. I can see our end-of-year goal of 1000 hours in sight. Can we do it???

I’m keeping our summary short this week. Expect more pictures after our week 18 together. Until then, happy gardening! Diane
